January 2012
Throughout the month of January the Work Placement Development Officer for the centre has been busy sourcing work placements for both our Work Programme customers and the young people who attend the Foundation Learning programme.
This has been extremely successful and we have 2 customers who have commenced a voluntary work placement in the month. More often than not, these work placements turn into paid work for the participants. Currently this figure stands at around 40% which in today’s current economic climate is a great achievement for the volunteer, as it is them that proves their worth to a prospective employer. Congratulations to all of those people.
Dennis
Dennis came to Beacon whilst at school but he found it extremely difficult to engage. Throughout his time with us he has managed to improve his behaviour and achieved Level 1 NCFE Creative Crafts. He has subsequently continued with Beacon on to our post 16 Foundation Learning provision. His progress has been remarkable and he is continuing to improve in not just academically but also socially.
Sin
Sin had been on the Foundation Learning programme as a learner. Her confidence and self esteem had grown and she felt ready to commence employment. We were in a position to offer Sin an Apprenticeship in Administration as an employee. Sin embraced the challenge and is an asset to the centre.
