GOVERNMENT REVIEW OF TIME OFF TO TRAIN
The Government has announced that it is to review the regulations for requesting time off to train. This currently applies to employers with over 250 employees but it is intended that it will apply to all other businesses from next April.

The purpose of the review is to assess whether the provisions are improving training opportunities for employees. The review is linked to the Government’s aim to reduce the regularity burden on employers. This aim may also result in the plans to extend Paternity Leave, which are due to come in next April, being put on hold or abandoned altogether.

The consultation period regarding the time off for training is due to end on the 15 September 2010.
